Green State Biochar is an award-winning biochar production company located in Greensboro Bend. Recently returned from competing as a finalist in the Farm Bureau's prestigious Ag Innovation Challenge, this small team produces biochar and works to communicate its benefits for preventing and mitigating agricultural runoff and amending soil to increase plant health, yield, and shorten time to harvest. General Manager Donna Pion will talk about the basics and benefits of biochar. Plus, she will discuss Green State Biochar's path from 2015 startup, to recipients of the Vermont Phosphorus Innovation Challenge grant, and their hopes and plans for the future of biochar in Vermont.
