The Northeast Kingdom Astronomy Foundation (NKAF) operates the Northern Skies Observatory in Peacham, Vermont. Using their robotically controlled, 17 inch PlaneWave Corrected Dahl-Kirkham telescope, NKAF gives local students an opportunity to pursue the art and science of astronomy and astrophotography. At this month's meetup, NKAF board member Bill Vinton will talk about how NKAF and the observatory are changing the definition of "skies the limit" for Vermont students, and explore some of the neat science taking place through their current initiatives.

The Northeast Kingdom Astronomy Foundation works with schools in northern New England and organizations such as the Governor's Institutes of Vermont, to introduce students of all ages to the joys and wonder of astronomy. Students are provided training in astrophotographic acquisition, processing, and analysis, equipping them with the tools to do authentic scientific research using the Northern Skies Observatory (NSO). Built in 2012, NSO has been the site of regular public observing events, and hosts regular star parties in the warmer months. NSO is also part of the Skynet world-wide network of robotic telescopes, taking part in significant astronomical discoveries around the world. www.nkaf.org
